Ducks, ducks and more ducks! My growing obsession! The garden is becoming overrun with ducks after last year’s new brood. Now the farmhouse is also at risk!
B&B guests are beginning to notice at breakfast time when they’re treated to a duck napkin ring, orange juice from a duck decanter, butter in a duck butter dish and toast served in a duck toast rack whilst watching the real ducks on the patio!
In the garden we have around 50 muscovy, indian runner, cayuga, crested appleyard, khaki campbell and a few wild ducks. They’re laying beautiful blue shell eggs which I use to make the cakes served to the guests on arrival and every day they’re here.
The watercolours hang on the kitchen wall to be enjoyed by those who book the farmhouse for up to 12 guests on a self catering basis and have use of our fabulous kitchen with a four over Aga plus induction hob and electric oven.
We found these Runner Ducks whilst browsing the shops in Estepona in Southern Spain, rather heavy to bring home in our luggage!
This silver duck bottle stopper was an eBay find along with our napkin rings.
A lady in Bere Regis upcycles empty bottles and we sell these here at the farm.
‘Never trust a skinny cook’ – a gift from a friend features in lots of our photographs and has pride of place on our breakfast table.
